Spring Semester Progress & Deliverables

Progress

  • Decided on a programming language (C++) and game engine (Unreal Engine 4)

  • Created a plot and storyline for our game

    • The main character is Morik, a traveler who has become the new overseer of the colony Trok’nihu, a moon off of the planet Izanaki.  Trok’nihu is home to Trok’nite, a precious resource that is needed back on Izanaki.  The colony is home to groups of robots run by artificial intelligence.  As the new overseer, Morik must travel around the colony learning about the types of AI that make the robots function in order to prove to his boss, Karatoba, that he is right for the job.

    • Morik has just taken over as overseer after the retirement of his father.  He is going up to Trok’nihu to learn how things on the planet are running and to see if he can make any modifications in order to improve it.  He first needs to learn about how each type of robot on the planet is functioning by interacting with them.  Since he needs to learn as he goes, players are periodically prompted with pop-quiz like questions as they traverse the planet. These quizzes ask how each type of robot or AI would interact in a given scenario.

  • Outlined the educational process we will be using to teach the player AI techniques and how we will gauge effectiveness

  • Created prototypes in Unreal Engine for the following AI techniques.

  • Progress presentation created for presentation before PRB (presentation 3 below)

  • Creation of the project website

    • Approval was received from Epic Games staff allowing us to post videos and pictures from Unreal Engine on our website.

  • Poster for poster presentation created and presented on April 14th.

  • Videos demonstrating project created.

  • Final report written.

  • Capstone enhancement project (Thomas Bowersock)

Conference Attendence
